During the 2000 Mozambique floods, a 26-pound baby hippo was washed up on a private lawn bordering the Blude River in South Africa's Limpopo province. A retired game warden, Tonie Joubert, found her and named her Jessica. As a calf, Jessica would sleep with the Jouberts on their double bed. Today, the nearly 1-ton, 7-year-old hippo sleeps on a mattress on the veranda, usually with a blanket to keep her warm and a curled-up dog for company. Watch Jessica the Hippo on Animal Planet.
