We have featured previous Sunset houses- Michelle Kaufmann's Glidehouse and last year's Breezehouse. This year Henry Siegel got a shot at it. His firm, Siegel and Strain, has a solid record of doing good green architecture, and it shows.
Of course it is northern California, so they can design the house around a semi-enclosed living room that separates the more enclosed spaces.
The house is made of SIP's (Structural Insulated Panels) that are energy efficient, fast and earthquake resistant. Counters are crushed quartz, reclaimed wood is used for the bathrooms, and grasscloth for the walls. After the show it will be dismantled and reassembled a couple of miles away. ::Ventura County Star and see a slideshow at ::Sunset Magazine
