Michael d’Estries has been writing about culture, science, and sustainability since 2005 and has been a mainstay on MNN (now part of Treehugger) since 2009. His writing has also appeared on Business Insider, CNN, From the Grapevine, and Forbes. He lives outside Ithaca, New York, with his family, chickens, and a couple of barn cats on a 55-acre apple farm.
d’Estries was a green blogger before there were many green bloggers. He's one of the co-founders of the green celebrity blog Ecorazzi, and he also started Groovy Green, one of the first green blogs on the web. He was the co-founder of Revmodo.com, a content marketing platform on clean energy and technology, and of Ecotality LIFE, which focuses on alternative energy and green investing.
d'Estries was a main-stage speaker at the 2007 Toronto Green Living Festival, a featured panel speaker on new media for a 2008 annual communications consortium for GE, 3M and AmEx, and a featured writer for General Electric’s Ecomagination initiative. Since then he has remained an authoritative voice in the sustainability sphere, focusing on science, renewable energy, space, culture, and eco-related celebrity news.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from State University of New York at Geneseo and is currently working on a Master of Business Administration from Boston University.
