Matt Alderton is a freelance journalist who writes regularly about climate and environment issues, renewable energy, clean transportation, sustainable agriculture, design, travel, and corporate responsibility. A writer and reporter for nearly two decades, he has written about subjects as varied as salmon restoration, sea-level rise, and smart cities. His bylines have appeared in USA Today, the Washington Post, Forbes, Green Living Magazine, and others. Originally from Denver, which boasts 300 days of sunshine a year, he now resides in Chicago, which boasts three.
Alderton has a Bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University, with a focus on magazine journalism, and a Master’s degree in creative writing with a focus on nonfiction, also from Northwestern. While he spent some time as an associate publisher and managing editor for several companies, he has been freelancing since 2007.
