Rogan Objects' Square Chair

Rogan Gregory, best known around here as one of the best sustainable designers going for his sexy organic apparel with Loomstate and Edun, has branched out and started designing furniture and lighting. Pairing modern shapes with organically authentic materials, the small collection features tables, chairs and pendant and table lighting; we're most taken by this square ottoman and armchair combination. Never one to leave the environment out of the equation, Rogan is concentrating on recycled and reclaimed materials; he uses reclaimed wood from barns and factory buildings in upstate New York and recycled steel in the furniture. Says Rogan, "I'm not interested in using exotic, tropical wood that will never exist again. I like the idea of recycling, and we do our best to use wood that's come out of buildings in the city or barn wood. And a lot of the old [lumber] we find is beautiful, beautiful old growth stuff. But it's not going to be around forever." We're glad he's found such a modern way to reuse it before it's gone. ::Rogan Objects via ::Apartment Therapy
