A key ingredient in this economic recovery plan is the creation of new green jobs. The stimulus package hopes to facilitate the creation of three to four million new jobs. Part of the funding will come in the way of grants for dislocated workers and competitive grants for people obtaining training in jobs considered to be in an emerging industry – green jobs and jobs in healthcare will receive priority consideration for these grants. “Green jobs training will include preparing workers for activities supported by other economic recovery funds, such as retrofitting of buildings, green construction, and the production of renewable electric power. “ Source: U.S. House of Representatives The package also sets asides funds to create new jobs in the domestic clean energy sector. A few of the projects slated for possible funding include the creation of a reliable, efficient electricity grid, grants to local governments for energy efficiency projects and clean energy research projects.
