Green jobs are out there and as state governors begin to receive federal stimulus dollars, we are likely to see more green jobs listings in the coming months. New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson knew that this increase in green jobs was coming and in January, created the New Mexico Green Jobs Cabinet. “The cabinet will be chaired by Fred Mondragon, economic development secretary for the state. It will also include cabinet secretaries from the departments of public education, higher education, workforce solutions, energy, minerals and natural resources, environment and agriculture, as well as the state investment office.” Source: New Mexico Business Weekly Chief Project Officer – Albuquerque, N.M. Senior-level project managers may be interested in the Chief Project Officer position with SkyFuel, Inc in Albuquerque, New Mexico. “The Company is seeking a senior energy industry professional with demonstrated understanding of project development, relationships with independent power plant developers and utilities, experience in construction and risk mitigation, excellent customer relations and sales skills, and experience in negotiating contracts for utility-size power projects.” Source: SustainLane SkyFuel is a thermal concentrating solar power (CSP) system developer; the company’s corporate headquarters is in Albuquerque and a research and development facility is located in Arvada, Colorado. TIG Welder – Albuquerque, New Mexico Excel Manufacturing and Light Industrial Staffing is seeking a TIG Welder for one of the company’s clients. The position requires the welder to assist in the manufacturing of solar photovoltaic racks and only one year of prior welding experience is required. Starting pay for this temp-to-hire position is between $12 and $14/hour and medical benefits are available. For more information, contact the staffing manager at 505-343-1414. These are just two of the many green jobs that I came across while looking for eco-focused positions currently available in New Mexico. As the stimulus funds hit the state and Governor Richardson’s Green Jobs Cabinet gets to work, residents of the state should find it easier to obtain green collar employment.
