Arizona is one of the states most affected by the housing crunch and foreclosure crisis and one of Arizona’s major industries, construction, has been hit hard. Although the unemployment rate in Arizona is lower than the national average, there is still a large unemployed workforce looking for a new job or even a new career. There are green jobs available in Arizona, now. Here are just a few of the positions I found during my search. Director of Environmental Planning – Tempe, ArizonaLogan Simpson Design is seeking to hire a Director of Environmental Planning. This is an upper-level managerial position and requires a Master’s Degree, six years of consulting experience and five years of management experience. If you’re interested in this position, it is listed on the Monster.com job board. Desktop Support Specialist – Phoenix, ArizonaGreen jobs aren’t limited to those who work on a wind turbine fabrication line or design LEED certified buildings, sustainable businesses have a variety of positions available. I’d consider jobs in these eco-conscious companies green jobs. One company, Stirling Energy Systems, Inc, is looking to fill a desktop support specialist position. This information technology professional will support the company’s end users and while the specialist won’t be installing solar panels, his position may still be considered a green job. The jobs are out there, you just need to dedicate the time to find a position that matches your skill set. In the time I spent searching, I found these three positions plus an entry-level administrative assistant position with a solar energy company as well as a wide variety of engineering positions.
