FishPhone has been around for years. It's a way to text a question about seafood to the Blue Ocean Institute to find out what options are sustainable, all while you're standing in the store isle. But the handy tool has just gotten much fancier, with a new iPhone app that pairs sustainable seafood options with recipes and wines.
The new FishPhone app is free at the iTunes store, and includes the important environmental information expected from a sustainable seafood guide. But it also offers alternative fish selections based on flavor profiles, and Blue Ocean Institute has partnered with renowned chefs like Barton Seaver and Brancott Vineyards to provide amazing recipes and wine pairings for the sustainable fish of choice.
The new app doesn't replace the well-loved FishPhone for non-iPhone users. You can still text 30644 with the message FISH and the name of the fish in question to get feedback on whether or not it is sustainable and best options.
