Here's one to file away under weird. Three little ladies in Midway, Georgia were enjoying their summer day selling lemonade when local police drove by and told them to close up shop. You'd think fresh outdoor air and the opportunity to bide summer's lazy days away from video games in a hyper air conditioned room was criminal...Or was it?(Georgia, as you may recall, is also home to the backyard farmer who got sued for growing too many vegetables.)
MSNBC reports that the police chief, Morningstar, was just following routine,
That city law requires a business and food permits ($50 a day), even if the stand was at the home of one of the girls....Health issues were also a concern, Morningstar said. "We were not aware of how the lemonade was made, who made the lemonade, of what the lemonade was made with, so we acted accordingly by city ordinance," he said.
These were three little girls selling lemonade; not creep-oids slipping roofies into an abandoned screwdriver. (Georgia, if you're listening, I'm just sayin.')
To all the brave little DIY girls out there making lemonade, stand tall. Stand proud. You may need take your homemade citrus sales guerrilla, at least in Georgia.
