If you believe in the importance of eating locally produced food and you're a devotee of farmers markets, then you should know about a new project we've got going on in the Sierra Club's new online community, Climate Crossroads.
It's called the Fans of Farmers Markets, and we're looking for photos to include in a new Farmers Market Photomap of the U.S. The next time you hit your local market, grab some shots of anything from photogenic fruit to funky bags to favorite farmers. We'll highlight the best pics in a special slideshow and include everyone's contributions on the photomap.Even if you're not a photographer, the Fans of Farmers Markets group is a great place to brag about your favorite market, share your best recipes, and connect with other market fans.
How can you share your great photos and get on the map? Here's how:
Visit the group on Climate Crossroads and post a photo and the location of your market in the group photo gallery, and we'll include it on the photomap. (If you're not already a member of our online community, you'll be asked to register -- a very quick and simple process.) We may also feature your photo on the home page and in the slideshow. And hey -- we're looking for an awesome avatar for the group, so it might get chosen for that, too.
