There is a lovely scene in the Lord of the Rings where Samwise drops a little box and almost gets Frodo killed trying to catch it. The all-important box contained Sam's seasonings, "because you never know when you are going to have a roast chicken or something." He might have been better off with the Mobile Foodie Organic Spice Kit.
Designer Holly McWhorter (who is also a LEED AP and writer) makes the kits out of (mostly) certified organic ingredients, ("not including the wasabi, which is so expensive in organic form that the kit would be prohibitively expensive itself"). Many come from a farming co-op in Oregon.
Full kit includes organic basil, cayenne, rosemary, ground cloves, curry, dill, granulated garlic, ginger, mustard powder, nutmeg, onion powder, oregano, paprika, pepper, and thyme; plus sea salt, wasabi powder, soy sauce and Tabasco sauce.
There is also a social aspect to the product:
Mobile Foodie Organic Spice Kits are made in Poughkeepsie, New York, by a team of adults with physical and medically handicaps at the Mid-Hudson Workshop for the Disabled....By buying a Mobile Foodie Organic Spice Kit, you are supporting not only sustainable, organic farming practices, but also the gainful employment and sense of well-being of the disabled adults who made it.
A lovely idea for the small kitchen as well as the ring-bearer. More at Mobile Foodie
