" recipe contest
. The festival and contest are a celebration of local and sustainably produced foods, so entries are limited to recipes that use ingredients from the Midwestern U.S. In other words, recipes for pineapple upside-down cake or avocado-mango salad won't make the cut.Recipe contest winners will be announced at the eighth annual "Food For Thought Festival" in Madison, WI. The upcoming festival promises to be a big hit for hungry 'Huggers as the key note speakers are Anna Lappe'
, the hip "Grub" guru and the much beloved Mollie Katzen of "Enchanted Broccoli" and "Moosewood" fame. In addition to the contest and celeb-guests, the festival will include cooking demos, food & farm booths, music, games and much more.
Recipe contestants are invited to submit entries for the following categories:
Ethnic Heritage: Dishes with an ethnic flair
Health and Nutrition: Great tasting and especially good for you recipes
Buying Local: Recipes that emphasize foods from area farmers' markets, CSA's and/or co-ops
Gardening and Wild-Crafting: Unique creations from your own garden or foraging
Food and Meaning: Recipes that share a special historical, religious, spiritual or other significance
Kids' Category: For entrants who are 14 or younger. Pick any of the above categories and be sure to tell us how old you are.
There is a $500.00 grand prize along with several other awesome prizes.
