Green Kitchens Begin With Food: "Easy Green Organic" Cooking by Anna Getty

Goat cheese frittata on crostini, arugula and strawberry salad, soba noodles with crumbled tofu tossed in a light Asian sauce, followed by crunchy macaroons and rich fudge cookies. Delicious. The organic buffet at the launch party for Anna Getty's new cookbook, Easy Green Organic, gave a taste of the enticing recipes using organic foods that make you itchy to jump in the kitchen and prep her flavorful dishes. But that's just a tip of the iceberg lettuce - or I should say Belgian Endive and Fennel Gratin?

Culled from her family recipes and inspired by a book called Culinary Artistry, Anna Getty has perfected 100 recipes using local, organic and sustainably harvested ingredients she shares in Easy Green Organic. Her new cookbook is also a guide to keeping an eco-friendly kitchen (i.e.: no coated cookware), shopping for seasonal produce, and compelling fact-filled tips about safe foods--like the amount of pesticide residue on non-organic strawberries. An active environmentalist, her point is that eating well is good for our health and for the planet.

This inspired book offers delicious organic recipes for entire meals from appetizers such as Quinoa Croquettes with Cilantro Yogurt Sauce and dishes like Pan-Fried Sake Shrimp with Polenta and Mushrooms in Chipotle Sauce to scrumptious desserts including Mini Strawberry Rhubarb Crumbles. Watch the book video as she sautés Swiss chard and fennel, rich in valuable folic acid, with chicken.

Ecostiletto extended invites for the book signing, which happened at the new location of Rolling Greens, a nursery and garden décor shop, housed in a former tire store in West Hollywood. Through the old garage doors overflowing in plants and lush greenery, there were enticing items like affordable plant containers, organic candles in recycled glass bottle bottoms, seed packages, gardening books, and even jars of old buttons ready for a DIY jewelry project.

The flower counter served as the bar for the party, with Frey organic wine and organic cocktails mixed with O.N.E.'s coconut water, acai juice and cashew apple juice with organic 360 Vodka. By a ribbon display, earth-friendly Josie Maran Cosmetics were applied for a non-toxic beauty treatment, and nearby, vegan chocolate truffles by Nicobella were presented as a guilt-free treat.

It may be obvious to many to keep a green kitchen but for the uninitiated who still think organic costs more because they purchase fruits and veggies at grocery stores, Getty leads the charge on whipping up delectable dishes with produce from local farms. Spring and summer is the ideal time to eat fresh foods and save on energy. Easy Green Organic is simple, healthy and sustainable - and at bookstores tomorrow, April 15.
