Materials Monthly II

When we last wrote about Materials Monthly Reader Christy questioned its treehuggerness; This month there is no question at all. Editor Jennifer Siegal has picked a formaldehyde free and incredibly strong Strandwoven bamboo material that can be used for structural elements or flooring, and something completely new to us (we are pretty far north)- DuraPalm, a flooring or panelling made from recycled coconut palm timber, where the outer, harder layer of the tree is pressed into dense planks. The Indonesian palms are shipped to China for manufacturing, a little much to-ing and fro-ing for our tastes, but it is another great green option.::Materials Monthly
