Everyone is talking about the smart home and the smart city these days. For a monthly contribution to the Guardian's Live Better Challenge, I talk about the dumb home in the dumb city, and why I think it is a happier place to be. It is really a summary of a whole lot of TreeHugger articles, with a happy face.

Soon they will offer us smart self-driving cars so that we can travel to our smart office while looking at our smart phones.

But will it make us happy? More in the Guardian.
