American houses are HUGE! Now 3x bigger than 50 years ago
Our sister site MNN.com references a favourite George Carlin monologue where he notes that "a house is just a place to keep your stuff while you go out and get more stuff." They are showing an infographic that does contain some actual info, including this bit that shows not only how much our houses have grown, but how the number of occupants have dropped. It notes that "The average US resident has as much individual space in their [sic] house asa an entire 1950's family would have shared."
