About the only thing worse than not having access to drinking water in the wilderness is drinking contaminated water, as anyone who's experienced giardia or an E. coli infection can testify. A portable water purifier is a must when traveling in the backcountry, and now you've got another choice: the Purificup.

PurifiCup is a portable water filtration system that would be a perfect addition to travel kits, camping and hiking packs, or even an emergency preparation kit. The system uses a 1 micron nano-silver membrane filter to remove and destroy up to 99.99% of pathogens such as bacteria and parasites, with no need to boil the water after filtration.

The design is made to filter water from any freshwater source, whether a stream, lake, river, or the tap. The device's three-stage filter includes an ion exchange resin to remove heavy metals such as lead, copper, cadmium, and mercury and will turn hard water into soft water. The activated carbon filter removes chlorine, pesticides, and organic solvents, and the nano-silver membrane on both the inlet and exit of the filter completes the process by removing dangerous pathogens.
