A new player in the energy saving home automation market has just surpassed its goal on the crowd-funding site Indiegogo. The Wi-fi enabled Parce One smart plug measures and controls the energy usage of your electronic devices. It monitors your daily habits and learns when and how you use energy and even when you're not at home.

The Parce One site gives you access to detailed reports and suggestions for reducing your energy consumption. You can set the device to full automation, which lets it turn off electronics and appliances for you to save energy or you can have full control and use the smartphone app or website to remotely turn your appliances on or off.

The Indiegogo campaign describes the potential energy and costs savings:

The Parce One has the potential to save every home up to 150 € ($200) per year. This potential works out to be roughly 30-50% of an annual bill, and is even greater in office buildings and production plants...

Depending on which devices you choose to control with Parce, you will be able to recoup the investment on Parce’s hardware between 6 – 24 months of use. After that, you’ll notice the difference in your bank balance at the end of every month. Not to mention the environmental impact, which will result in an average household saving more than half a ton of CO2 per year.

We've seen smart plugs before, but their ability to really control your energy use was limited. The Parce seems to be the Nest of smart plugs, with a much more intelligent design than its competitors.
