Eat Your Phone

OK, thats an exaggeration, but NTT DoCoMo is experimenting with Sony's plastics made from starches and sugars from corn and potatoes for cell phones. ::Hippyshopper noted them showing up in DVD players. However it is not all edible goodness- ::Metaefficient pointed out that Cargill/Dow, the creator of the plastic, "has been criticized for using GMO (genetically modified) corn to create the biopolymer, because GMO crops could potentially have devastating effects on the earth's biodiversity." ::gizmodo by [LA]
