This Futuristic Café Racer Is Actually an Electric Scooter

The clean and quiet Rumble Motors bike also lets you go from mild to wild with its included motorcycle sound effect.

For those who want to stand out while they clean up their commute, a forthcoming personal electric vehicle aims to give its riders the feel of riding a café racer (and even the sound, if desired), yet with a futuristic look and high-tech components. The Rumble Motors "bike" is not quite motorcycle-sized, and is throttle-operated so it doesn't have any pedals to spin, so it's not quite an electric bicycle, but it does have a top speed of 44 mph (70 kph) from its 1500W motor and a 50-mile riding range, so it could make for a fast fun way to get around town.

© Rumble MotorsAlthough the three brothers behind the Rumble Motors electric scooter state that its "design and shape is inspired from a Café Racer bike," the look of the bike is decidedly different from those of the past, not the least of which is the design of the front end, which eschews the traditional fork design for a swingarm-based hub-center steering setup. The Rumble manages to suggest the lines of a café racer rather than the actual frame and geometry of one, and then adds a futuristic twist to it for a look that is sure to turn heads.

According to the Rumble Motors website, the scooter, which weighs 231 pounds (105 kg), is powered by a 60V lithium ion battery pack, which feeds the 1500W rear hub motor and turns the 110/70R-12 wheels to speeds up to 44 mph. The company states a riding range per charge of up to 50 miles (80 km), and a charge time of 3-4 hours, but no other specs on battery capacity are available.

The MSRP of the Rumble e-bike is $3,495, and the company is currently taking pre-orders for the product.
