It's probably no surprise that journalists use a lot of government data. Due to the shutdown, we've lost access to many public resources that we regularly use. Today, I wasn't able to find stats on the dead zone because the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's site is down. Yesterday, it felt like every link about Beiquan Mou, a researcher for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, lead me to a shutdown notification.
At least we're not alone. This toddler TOTALLY gets it:
The YouTube poster writes:
"5 year sobs on day 1 of federal shutdown. We got home from school and his favorite website nasa.gov was shutdown...to our surprise. He plays the kids games every day and now he is heartbroken."
