When it comes to sharks, we may dedicate a week of TV programming to them but the simple fact is, we know so precious little about them. Much of their lives are a mystery. So how to we go about saving them, if we don't know all that much about them? Like many species of sharks, this is the case for basking sharks.
These behemoths are the second largest fish in the world, and they're nearly extinct. Simon Berrow, a marine biologist, gave a great talk at TEDxDublin about the low-tech methods being used to gather more information about these giant fish so that we might keep them on this planet.
