Protecting those who protect natureThis is an update on yesterday's post about the murder of Costa Rica conservationist Jairo Mora Sandoval by endangered turtle poachers. In that post, I wrote that the reward fund for information on his murder was $10,000, but thanks to generous donations - including from Captain Paul Watson from the Sea Shepherd Society - the reward fund now stands at $56,000.
The memorial fund has also received many generous donations and now contains $7,000.
“The global outpouring of support to demand justice for Jairo and his family has been inspiring,” said Jaclyn Lopez, an attorney with the Center for Biological Diversity. “We will not give up this fight until Jairo’s killers have been convicted and the beaches are safe for sea turtles and people alike.”
