Mondays are hard. We know this, and so, apparently, do monk seals. This Hawaiian monk seal hauled up on a beach on Kaua'i last week to catch forty winks.
To this critically endangered marine mammal species, finding a quiet place to rest is actually a matter of life or death. The monk seal typically needs people-free beaches to rest or escape from predators without being harassed by humans. Though some, such as this one, can tolerate the busier beaches of Kaua'i.
