Though they've been criticized as being too expensive, bulky and sometimes breakage-prone, standing desks can offer a lot of ergonomic benefits for people who are sedentary workaholics. No wonder that we've recently seen some pared-down (and affordable) versions, made for budget-conscious professionals. Your Position, designed by David Manning of Not Just Chairs, is another simple, adjustable standing desk that joins these growing ranks.
Aiming to "blur the division between commercial and domestic environments," Manning's design has some useful features that any small office or anyone needing flexibility would appreciate. For instance, to maximize limited space, the L-shaped desk can roll around to anywhere that it is needed, and can also fold down flat to be stored away.
The adjustable height desk isn't dependent on any complex (and breakable) mechanism for functionality; it sits on a series of rungs that the user can adjust to throughout the day. The rungs are also convenient places to hang things like sliding containers, lamps, books and plants, adding another level of customization.
One thing that might add to the design: a larger, tilting work surface (for illustrators, for example), but we like the fact that Your Position allows for both sitting and standing, integrating storage with ergonomics. It's an uncomplicated design that remains versatile for the ever-changing needs of the workplace and the home office. More over at Not Just Chairs.
