Roy Tam Ash Table/Desk

roy_tam_desk.jpg

Roy Tam, Master of Design the UK Royal College of Art has rendered this oiled solid ash timber writing desk, which avoids reliance on nails, screws and suchlike. The subtly angled leg halves are joined to one another by pins of contrasting solid oak. A deep slender draw slides out to reveal a storage space for big papers. Handmade to order, so maybe not one for faint of wallet. £2,000! Roy uses fast growing ash (mostly from managed mixed forest on an organic farm) because he feels it absorbs more CO2 green gas than old slow growing trees and it self seeds, ensuring a ongoing renewable resource. ::EcoFurniture [by WM]
