We were reading through our PRWeek today and when we approached the "jobs" section we couldn't help but raise our eyebrows. A huge ad for Wal-Mart containing several PR, communications and marketing jobs was staring back at us with the words "sustainability/long term" and "we need PR pros who think outside the big box." After reading about Jeffrey Hollender's recent visit to the Wal-Mart headquarters we're wondering if they are taking into account his suggestions. Are they possibly creating a whole new department for environmental communications. Job descriptions are as follows "The Senior Manager of Foundation Communication will play a key role in developing and executing communications strategies related to the community involvement initiatives and corporate giving programs the company has developed for education, health care, community partnerships, the environment and other areas of importance to customers, associates, and other stakeholders."
"The Senior Manager of Long-Term Issues Management will play a key role in developing and executing communications strategies related to the company's environmental initiatives and other long-term issues-focused programs aimed at creating positive change for communities and future generations."
"The Senior Manager of Diversity Communication will play a key role in developing and executing communications strategies related to the company's diversity initiatives and its outreach to key constituency groups."
We say interesting. Via ::PRWeek
