TH Tip: Whitening Your Whites, Naturally

We were thumbing through a Martha Stewart Living magazine at a friend’s house the other day and found a great tip to share with all you TreeHuggers for post-holiday cleaning. Did you know that white linens, napkins and socks can be whitened on the stove? It’s easy – fill a pot with water, add a few slices of lemon and bring to a boil. Turn off the heat, throw in your linens and then let it soak for about an hour. You can throw it in the wash, as usual, but for extra-brightening hang them out in the sunlight to dry. Now you’re all set for next time! ::Martha Stewart Living
