Sustainable Living Festival

federation-square.jpgFor three days next month, Melbourne's bizarre looking Federation Square will be host to a huge throng of people wanting information on planet gentle lifestyles. The crowds will be attending the wildly popular Sustainable Living Festival, where aside from the multitude of stalls promoting green products and services, there will be plenty of organic food and beverage. Also exhibiting will be The Future Cities Project, where science and art imagine "life in an environmentally sustainable city 50 years from now". The theme this year is 'the future of food'. Another exhibit will be university students showing off their designs for EcoPods. Alas the definition provided of what an ecopod is so supposed to be for, is very vague. You can see some of the students work online, but I for one, am none the wiser. Many of the links on the festival's website are not yet functioning either. Glitches aside, this event, the most accessible of its kind in Australia, has enormous power in showing genuine alternatives to the 'business as usual' model. We wish it every success. ::Sustainable Living Festival [by WM]
