Just What We Needed Dept.: Blue Cooling Foam In A Can

It's hot out there! Time for TreeHugger to roll out another silly Japanese waste of propellant and metal. This is Hokkyoku Monogatari, which actually translates as "Tales of the North Pole". Japan Trends says " The blue foam feels like a giant ball of confetti and as they squeeze it, the air bubbles expand and then "pop," releasing a refreshing breeze of cool air."

These devices are claimed to be energy saving, as they are purported to keep you cool without air conditioning. No life-cycle or chemical analysis is provided, but I suspect that it would be environmentally better to use an air conditioner. Outside.
