The Mattracks Powerboard speeds up to 18 MPH, powered by a 200CC 4 cycle engine. My first reaction was "yeah, right, who needs this?" but in fact, there isn't much good that can be said about driving two hours to get to a hill where you are electrically winched up to the top of a hill covered by artificial snow, so maybe this isn't as bad as it looks at first glance.
With a unit weight 150 pounds, one isn't going to grab a lot of air, but it does look like fun.
Great for snowbound regions without big hills or mountains, the Mattracks Powerboard can offer you the fun and action of snow boarding without going to the ski slopes. With a large track footprint the Powerboard supports the weight of the rider allowing you to cruise over even the deepest powder snow.
Of course, one could also suggest that a set of cross-country skis or snowshoes let you enjoy snow without hills and without fossil fuels. But given the amount of fuel needed to get a snowboarder to a hill and then up to the top, this may actually be greener than the real thing. Now all we need is a solar or hydrogen powered version.
