Green Boroughs Teaches Sustainability in NYC

This October, Green Boroughs will be offering a 4-part sustainability course led by Les Judd. The course will include a green walking tour around Manhattan, presentations by green business leaders, as well as tips on how you too can live sustainability in the big apple.

The course is only $39 per participant and is being offered through the Borough of Manhattan Community College Continuing Education Department. The classes will be held October 7, 12, 19 and conclude on the 21st with two-hour long panel presentations by area green business owners.The second and third sessions will be walking tours throughout the East Village, Lower East Side, West Village and Soho. Speakers for the final class will include: Chris Collins,Solar 1; Bob Muldoon, NYC Sierra Club; Miquela Craytor, Sustainable South Bronx; Paula Lukats, Program Manager for Just Food; Catherine Barton, Green Depot; Mark Ehrhardt, Movers Not Shakers Inc; and Mark Caserta, 3R Living.

Green Boroughs was developed to link together green consumers with green businesses in the New York area. In addition, they also run the Green Business Marketing Group, which brings together small businesses for networking and roundtable lunch meetings.

Can't make the class? Green Boroughs does walking tours throughout the year, as well as publishes a green guide and offers to help businesses conduct in-house Earth Fairs to help employees learn more about going green. Green Boroughs also offers an e-newsletter to update area residents on green events and new green businesses in the area.
