Just in time for Mother's Day, is GooGooSwap, (think: Freecycle for the baby world) - perfect for all moms and moms-to-be. And no, they're not swapping babies (sounds like the next reality show, eh?). Tired of the overpriced cost of baby items that have a shelf-life of just a few months? (what could be more un-environmental?) Tired of the plethora of baby "stuff" that you get from all of the showers but don't know what to do with? Read on. Launched in March 2009, GooGooSwap.com is the freecycle for mom's to be. Sure you can wait around on Freecycle or Craigslist, or scour area garage sales and hope you can find a few items to decorate the new pad for baby, but GooGooSwap gives you one stop shopping for all your baby needs. While items are for sale and do include a price, the prices are much lower than you might find in a store, and some are even negotiable.
If it takes a village to raise a child, then this virtual village just helped make life for moms in southern California a little easier. GooGooSwap.com is divided into three sections - stuff for babies, stuff for moms and services. A quick perusal of the site brought up lots of items, such as nursing blankets, strollers, baby toys, clothing, videos - everything you might find in a Babies 'R Us Store - including a category for twins/multiples.
Currently the site is centered around neighborhoods in southern California (primarily Los Angeles), but not including San Diego, yet. Founder Susanna Peace Lovell is working on a national launch, so check back in a month or two for a GooGooSwap near you. Anyone can get involved - it's free to join and free to post. :GooGooSwap
