MikeZ has a thought:
I've been reading up on the history of mass transit and the things that interested me was how capitalistic it was...In the 50's and 60's, passenger rail service was actually operated by private for-profit companies--and offered better and faster service than Amtrak today! I just find it interesting that almost all mass transit projects seem to be focused on government financing. I want to know: Do you think that there is a case to be made that mass transit could be built as a private, for-profit endeavor?
So should the government step aside and leave mass transit to the private sector? Join the conversation.
