Down:2:Earth Green Living Expo Has a Special Surprise

The Down:2:Earth Green Living Expo is happening April 3-5 in Boston. It's a great place to find green products, learn about the goings on in the environmental community, and educate participants on sustainability. This year's gathering will feature a special treat that TreeHugger is pretty jazzed about.

While the country finds itself at a pivotal point for solving environmental and economic concerns, D2E will help navigate these uncertain times by offering "back to basics" ideas for attainable and sustainable change. For three days, attendees will explore the latest in green careers/green collar jobs, sustainably produced food, eco-fashion and design, green building, socially responsible investing, renewable energy, and more. In addition to a wide array of lively presentations and panel discussions, D2E offers a sustainable marketplace that The Boston Globe has called "a glimpse of the future."

You caught that bit about lively presentations and panel discussions, right? Well the part about Down:2:Earth that makes us extra excited about it is that our very own Meaghan O'Neill will be there to document participants and record why they're green.

Following a brief presentation, Meaghan O'Neill, editor of and and co-author of Ready, Set, Green: Eight Weeks to Modern Eco-Living, will be documenting participants with photography and video to find out why and how they are going green. That is, we want to document everything about what motivates you, your fears and hopes, and the little things you are doing to save the planet. Think: NPR's "Story Corps" meets the blogosphere. This presentation is all about personal passion and participation, so be prepared to engage! Particpants are encouraged to bring small objects that represent their commitment to green living or will have the opportunity to make signs on-site. The media collected will then then be produced into an photo gallery/post on

So if you're at the expo and want to be on TreeHugger - or if you want to be on TreeHugger and so are heading to the expo - be sure to find Meaghan and tell her just why it is you are a self-proclaimed greenie.
