Why do you make environmentally conscious decisions? It can save us money, help the environment and even make us feel good, but what if your green actions could also help your favorite charity? That's the idea behind a new game called Double Impact. We've partnered with the game makers to help explain why the challenges in the game are worth taking.
Double Impact is based on earning points for taking different challenges, such as eating less meat or avoiding plastic bottles. Another challenge player can take is to switch their incandescent light bulbs to CFL or LED. Here's why:
Changing your light bulbs isn't the highest-impact thing you can do for the environment, but it's one of the easiest, so there's no excuse not to do it. But why should you switch your old incandescent light bulbs to newer compact fluorescents (CFLs) or light emitting diodes (LEDs)? First, you'll save money. CFLs and LEDs are about 4-5x more efficient than incandescents. Plus, CFLs have a lifespan of between 6,000 and 15,000 hours, and LEDs top that by having a functional life that can span a decade or more. Secondly, changing your bulbs is a good way to reduce your carbon footprint and combat global warming. Finally, switching bulbs can help protect our air, land, and water. The more we reduce our electricity consumption, the less coal we need to burn.
So conserve your money and help the environment by joining us on Double Impact. Every green action you take will help your charity of choice.
