This week, Christie's hosted their third annual green auction A Bid To Save the Earth to raise funds for top environmental non-profits Oceana, Natural Resource Defense Council (NRDC), Conservation International, and the Central Park Conservancy. The auction boasts both a live, carbon-neutral event that brought in roughly $600,000 and an online auction on CharityBuzz.com that is open for bidding until April 19.
Christie’s calculated all of the carbon emissions involved with the live auction, including transportation, travel, rentals, and bought carbon offsets through Terrapass.
Present were celebrities, society sweethearts, and industry movers and shakers, including Glenn Close, Angela Lindvall, Amanda Hearst, Sam Champion, Julie Gilhart, Lauren Bush Lauren, Susan and David Rockefeller, and Anna and Graydon Carter.
All proceeds from the event will benefit water preservation programs run by each nonprofit respectively.
Runway to Green that saw Christie's transformed into an ethical runway for one night was missed this year. The event was focused with the theme of water and intimate, thanks to a JW Marriott-sponsored lounge outfitted with reclaimed and salvaged wood furnishings and a bar fully stocked with Grey Goose cocktails.
You can still raise your virtual paddle on CharityBuzz.com until April 19 to bid on these notable lots: Experience a Day in the Life of President Bill Clinton in NYC; Learn to Surf from Pro Laird Hamilton; Intimate Dinner with SHFT Co-founders, Adrian Grenier and Peter Glatzer at Locanda Vini e Olii in Brooklyn, New York; Hand-Carved Porcelain Trio from Maria Moyer; Custom Altered Stella McCartney Bag by Mr. Brainwash; and The Sentinel by PETER LIK.
