Celebrate Earth Day at The Green Festival in Chicago

Wow, our calendars are chock a block with green events across the States over the next two weekends, what with Step It Up's National Day of Climate Action this Saturday 14th and Earth Day taking place next Sunday 22nd - see our special TH Earth Day Guide. We hope all of you, wherever you are, will be getting involved somehow. For those of you in the Chicago area next weekend you are spoilt for choice! Not only are there several Earth Day events going on around the city, but there's also the Green Apple Fest and the first Green Festival of 2007. On it's first visit to Chicago the Green Festival is looking to beat the enormous attendance numbers it saw in Washington DC and San Francisco last year, 25 000 and 36 000 people respectively. With over 300 listed exhibits there'll certainly be no shortage of things to see, buy, listen to and learn about. Unfortunately you won't be able to do everything, but some of our top recommendations are talks by Paul Stamets with his 'Fungi Perfecti', Bill McKibben of Step it Up, Nasser Abufarha, founder of Canaan Fair Trade and Chair of the Palestine Fair Trade Association, and Judy Logback of Kallari talking about organic Ecuadorian chocolate - yum! Oh and of course I'll be there as your friendly TreeHugger reporter slash Kallari volunteer. You'll no doubt find me helping out at the Kallari stand, booth 6059 in the Fair Trade Pavilion, handing out chocolate samples - come along and try some - you'll need the energy boost! Chicago Green Festival: McCormick Place, 2301 S. Lake Shore Drive, Saturday, April 21, 10 a.m. -8 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.:: Green Festival ::Step It Up :: Earth Day :: Green Apple Fest :: Kallari
