Can Something Be "More" Sustainable or is it just Black or White?

TreeHugger emeritus and favourite commenter Ruben Anderson disagreed, commenting "sustainability is like pregnancy, you either are or you aren't. So 'more' sustainable anything is not possible. Sustainable. Or not." Sami responded with Sustainability is Not Black Or White - "More Sustainable" is Possible. But at its most basic, sustainable means "it endures". Others, like Walmart and Certainteed, have other definitions.
