That's what people in Hollywood have been asking Global Inheritance and musical group The Roots as part of their new program with schools called Feed Your Roots. While the bin signed by stars like Dave Chappelle, Jill Scott, Common, Fall out Boy, and Isaiah Washington is being auctioned off to help support the program, they're also giving away 5 specially designed compost bins that have been autographed by members of The Roots to schools that come up with the most creative composting campaigns on their campus. Now we can't say these bins have actually been "game used", but they are definitely a great way to show the students in your school that composting is the cool thing to do It's certainly not the first campaign by Global Inheritance to push for progressive social changes either In fact, they've launched programs like TRASHed that brings together some of the worlds best artists to turn ordinary recycling bins into works of art; or TourRider, where concert goers team up to carpool so they can gain access to perks like gift bags and VIP access while creating less air pollution and traffic congestion in the process. They've even launched a program called You're The Bomb, which uses art to help bring into focus the quite serious dilemma of nuclear proliferation in the 21st century. The whole key is getting youth across America to use their creativity to push for change while simply choosing to reject conflict.
So how can you get your school involved in this, their latest campaign? Well, first you've got to be a student or teacher in an elementary, middle, or high school within the United States. Then you've just got to follow the guidelines and be sure your entry is in before the deadline of May 1, 2007. What they're really looking for is your creativity in designing both the program itself and a poster to help generate awareness among students about items you compost at your school, and as an added incentive I'm offering to feature the top campaign picked by Global Inheritance and The Roots right here on TreeHugger when results are announced... So don't just sit there, put together a team and let your creativity run wild!!!!
