It’s award season and Adrian Grenier is collecting prizes. Last Thursday, he took the Eco Maverick award in LA from Opportunity Green and on Monday, he receives the Entertainment and Design Award from Global Green at its 12th annual Sustainable Design Awards. The actor/activist co-founded SHFT with producer Peter Glatzer, a website for "Curating the Culture of Today’s Environment." They also won a Webby this summer and Time magazine named their five-word acceptance speech one of the top 10 best: “The SHFT hits the fan.” Other honorees recognized for their pioneering green efforts follow:
Henrik Fisker, CEO of Fisker Automotive, picks up the Corporate Design Award for innovative practices in creating the Karma, the first electric luxury sedan with extended range. Automobile magazine also named the vehicle the 2012 Design of the Year.
The Green Building Design Award goes to Starbucks’ head of Global Development, Arthur Rubinfeld, recognizing the company’s commitment to reach LEED certification at stores and roasting facilities with energy efficiency and water conservation. Recently, the company hosted its third Cup Summit to focus on recycling its cups.
The Product Design Award will be presented to Steve Elfman, Sprint’s President of Network Operations and Wholesale for its environmental innovations from an eco-friendly phone, Samsung's Replenish, to its smart phone app package called "Green ID" including iRecycle, GreenBiz, Earth911, and Treehugger.
The Global Green event happens November 14 at the New York Hilton with New Orleans legend Dr. John performing at the celebration.
