4. Deborah Lindquist

One of the trailblazers in green fashion, Deborah Lindquist produces sunny, fresh frocks with creative reuse of recycled cashmere and repurposed kimonos, saris, and vintage silk scarves, as well as hemp, organic cotton, and organic wool. Lindquist participated in London’s Fashion Week in September 2008 as part of the two-year-old eco fashion Estethica showcase. Lindquist also has a green wedding dress collection with a wide range of price points for the eco chic bride.

Designer Bahar Shahpar uses low agricultural impact fabrics like organic cotton and wool, sasawashi, tencel, seacell, and vegetable dyes to create her hand-crafted dresses, blouses, skirts, and trousers. Other eco-centric details include river shell buttons, vintage trim, and Shahpar's artful use of designer surplus and reused waste materials. Shahpar is the founder of the Four Hundred, a sustainable fashion showroom in New York with which she shares the limelight with sustainable lines including Chemline and Lara Miller (two Alicia Silverstone faves).
