It certainly hits all the right marks: 100% recycled and recyclable, BPA and phthalate-free, made in the US, good-looking, and affordable. Self-filtering water bottles are becoming more popular (see our head-to-head comparison of several) and are a great way to get store-bought bottled water out of your life. Water Bobble is designed by Karim Rashid, who has designed everything from prefab houses to baby bottles to furniture. This elegant portable water device costs just under $10, and replacement filters are under $7.Water Bobble's filters are claimed to handle 40 gallons of water, which shakes out to 300 bottles. That's plenty of refill capacity, but if you are forgetful, the Water Bobble site will remind you when it might be time to replace. The active carbon filter pulls out chlorine and other organic contaminates. You can grab a Bobble online, or wait for them to hit Whole Foods, Bed Bath and Beyond, Barnes & Noble, and others.
