Yahoo! has announced the winners of its "Finds of the Year" competition. It's the annual search for the most innovative contributions to the web and we are so chuffed that some of our favourite sites have hit the heights. Nigel's Eco Store won in the "Shopping" category, and rightfully so. Nigel looks just like his logo (pictured) and he is so hard-working--at every green fair he is out there, with his well-designed booth, chock full of green goodies and gadgets, talking to people and encouraging them to consider the green alternative. He's got competition but his accessible and good looking site steals the show. Under the "Charity" category was Free Rice, first noted here at treehugger. It's the strangely addictive game that tests vocabulary knowledge and converts correct answers to rice donations.
Under "Ethical", there were several very worthy candidates. The Nag won, a site that sends one nag a month to do something green. Eat the Seasons was a runner up, here is a foodie site that was ahead of its time; sending a tip every week about what is the most seasonal thing to eat that week (jerusalem artichokes this week). Trees for Cities was also a runner up, an organisation that plants trees and beautifies cities. Faces in Places won the Weird & Wonderful category, and is definitely worth a peek, as is DoggySnaps for lonely animals. Congrat's to one and all. :: Yahoo Finds of the Year
