BP has failed to stem the tide of the Gulf oil spill so the Obama administration is now throwing budget and brainpower into fixing the failed pipe 5000 feet below sea level.
The team has launched a 21st century version of "Apollo 13" with hundreds of engineers, some from rival oil companies, working round-the-clock. Under Obama's directive, energy secretary Stephen Chu has also assembled a "dream team" of out-of-the-box thinkers including a pioneer on Mars drilling techniques, a nuclear physicist, and an MIT professor.
After 4 weeks and an estimated 2 million barrels of spilled oil, one hopes that the new brain team will arrive at a solution before it's too late.
