Senate Passes Schwarzenegger's 'Million Solar Roofs' Plan

Yesterday the Senate passed Arnold Schwarzenegger's plan for new incentives to encourage use of solar power. Schwarzenegger's goal is to harness 3,000 megawatts worth of solar power by 2018. This is about 5% of California's entire electricity use at peak periods. It would be the equivalent to the energy produced by six large coal-burning plants. The "million solar roofs" bill offers rebates to private residents and businesses for installing solar panels and potentially selling the excess power back to the electrical grid. :: Story on Herald.Com [by Justin Thomas]
