Julia Hill on Big Picture TV

Big Picture TV is unleashing more in-depth television upon us. This time it features Julia Butterfly Hill. I'd have to say with a name like that she was destined to be a green theorist. On screen she speaks about the concept of sustainability and what it will take to make it mainstream. She also theorizes on the power of individual action to create sustainability, and the power of sharing existing solutions. In 1997 Julia Butterfly Hill climbed up an ancient Redwood to save it from being felled. She stayed in the tree for over two years before the timber company agreed not to cut it down (nor any of the trees immediately surrounding it). Julia has since been involved in environmental advocacy and has worked in support of indigenous peoples around the world. :: Big Picture TV
