Greenpeace Going Soft?

Here's where Greenpeace USA puts the "peace" in their name. The organization, known for militant and sometimes illegal tactics, has announced that it will send a group to tour through the Arctic, in kayaks. Taking pictures. No blood and gore here. No ramming ships. Just nice, clean photographs. Some say the group is turning soft, but executive director John Passacantando begs to differ. "If people think we're going soft, all the better. It's always good to have that added element of surprise," he said. BUT he does admit that the effort is a way to reconnect people with the beauty of the place and what's at stake if drilling—even if on only 2,000 acres—does indeed come to fruition. ::Grist [by MO]
