If you're a non-profit or socially responsible business and want some pretty kick-ass design/filmmaking skills for free(!!!) then pay attention. Free Range Studios, "the Creative Agency with a Conscience" and creators with Sustainable Table of The Meatrix, has just announced their annual YouTopia Grant:In terms of the amount of services to awarded, as in past years, the grant is $15,000 worth of design/strategic communications services: web & print design, online filmmaking, strategy consulting and brand design. Pretty cool.
Two Grants to be Awarded in 2009
In past years the YouTopia Grant just went to one organization, this year it has expanded: In honor of Free Range Studios' ten-year anniversary a grant will also be given to a socially responsible business. Free Range founder Jonah Sachs says this is "our way of rewarding the creative social entrepreneur working to affect positive social change."
Public Nominates, Votes on Recipients
Another important change this year is how the winners will be chosen: From September 8th to October 31st, you can apply for the YouTopia Grant -- applications are due by 5pm on the 31st. After that time the public will be able to vote on the who the finalists will be until November 26th. Free Range will then select the winners by the end of December.
Beyond Sustainable Table (back in 2003), past recipients include: The League of Young Voters Slam Bush campaign, the Global Footprint Calculator for Global Footprint Network, and Changing the Present.
